How does Clinical Hypnotherapy work?

By relaxing the filter between the conscious an sub- or unconscious mind. Let me explain. “Inductions” start the hypnotherapy session. Inductions are fast or slow, so help the client reach light to deep trance states, quickly or slowly. The speed and length can depend on the client’s stress levels and on previous hypnotic experience. An induction like “progressive relaxation” is an induction that is slow and long and is a therapeutic experience in itself – resulting in very deep calm and effective stress reduction. Generally inductions set the scene in a session – relax the mind – to introduce the trance state, where the therapist then continues with helpful, positive, healing suggestions, that work to achieve the client’s prioritised goals, as previously set in consultation.

Trance, as a state of relaxation, softens the filter between the conscious and sub- or unconscious mind. The unconscious mind contains beliefs, emotions, old habits, and can be re-programmed using hypnotherapy.

The filter, although softened, does not let any unharmonious suggestions through into the mind. ONLY good, helpful, harmonious suggestions are taken into the unconscious mind.

Your commitment to achieving your goals, your motivation, courage and confidence can soar with careful goal-setting and determination. You simply re-write your beliefs and let hypnosis establish your new belief system.

It’s useful to repeat session recordings – listen to them as you’re falling asleep – as repeating hypnotic suggestions can have a more lasting effect on your unconscious belief system.
